Ambassador Buratai is a retired Lieutenant General and was the 20th Chief of Staff of the Nigerian Army in the Chronicles of Command. He graduated from the Nigerian Defence Academy in 1983 as a member of the 29th Regular Course and also gained a Bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Maiduguri and a Master’s of Philosophy in Security Studies from University of Professionals, Bangladesh. In 2018 he was awarded a Doctorate Degree (Honouris Causa) by the Kaduna State University, Kaduna. He is a legendary infantry general who made headlines by defeating the Boko Haram insurgents through his exemplary leadership skills, generalship and bravery.
